Finally over being sick...

So heres some work I have done since my last update. I have been lucky enough to join Noah Bradleys Mentorship program! This is what I've been doing before I start in March. Photo studies are actually really fun!

Forests & Painting with the Ross part 2

I got a sudden urge to paint a foresty themed landscape today. Tried using a good portion of photo reference. Attempted to add some "god rays" but I'm still not sure how I feel about them.

Painting with the Ross and other shenanigans

Decided to paint along with Bob Ross on one of his DVDs, while making it my own. Had tons of fun and actually learned some. Was a good way to spend an hour.

A quickish Regis Francois Gignoux study via a Hudson River School book from the library. Spent a little over and hour on this. Really like how it turned out.

Another piece thats WIP. Went with a little different workflow this go around. No value scale beforehand. I did however use a different piece for color reference. It's still changing constantly. 

Sci fi Themed Environment

Decided to go with a Sci-Fi theme this go 'round. Trying to add a bit more story elements into my pieces. Also trying to ease into integrating some architectural elements as well.

Fun little paint I've been working on for a little while. Love the icy environments. 

Master Studies!

I've been reading alot of James Gurney's Color and Light recently. The book actually gave me the idea to try and study some of the old Masters to get a better feel for color. The two images below are a result of some studies.

The second image was actually really tough. The contrast in the original was hard for me to achieve. You lose some and win some I guess. More to come.

Noah Bradley Enviros

Sure has been a bit since I updated this thing.. haha. Been so busy. Anyways, Noah Bradley did a demo at DPSC this past friday. I decided to compete. We had an hour to paint a lava themed environment  The sketch below was my result.

The whole process is coming to me smoother. However, I felt I really didn't push the values in the rocks enough. More practice will hopefully help alleviate that issue. Lol.
