Parallel Pen Thumbnails

I got this super badass pen for my birthday thanks to Zach. Man I love this thing. Feels almost like a brush. Here are some doodles/thumbnails for my sketchbook. They are pretty rough but some convey, atleast in my mind, some future comps.

My first assignment for Noah Bradley's mentorship program was to do atleast 50 thumbnails compostions, focusing on the large overall shapes. This was the first time I ever thumb-nailed before starting a painting. Usually I just jump in and "go with the flow" more or less.

Needless to say, I have become addicted to thumbnails.

Brush tests

Sure has been awhile since I updated this thing. Lol. I found some pretty sweet chalk brushes courtesy of Jaime Jones. I love these things.

These were both relatively quick sketches done in maybe an hour/ hour half. 

Finally over being sick...

So heres some work I have done since my last update. I have been lucky enough to join Noah Bradleys Mentorship program! This is what I've been doing before I start in March. Photo studies are actually really fun!

Forests & Painting with the Ross part 2

I got a sudden urge to paint a foresty themed landscape today. Tried using a good portion of photo reference. Attempted to add some "god rays" but I'm still not sure how I feel about them.

Painting with the Ross and other shenanigans

Decided to paint along with Bob Ross on one of his DVDs, while making it my own. Had tons of fun and actually learned some. Was a good way to spend an hour.

A quickish Regis Francois Gignoux study via a Hudson River School book from the library. Spent a little over and hour on this. Really like how it turned out.

Another piece thats WIP. Went with a little different workflow this go around. No value scale beforehand. I did however use a different piece for color reference. It's still changing constantly.
